A big thank you...

...To everyone who came out to our split showcase with How is Annie Records last week at ByLarm. It was a stressful evening but we enjoyed beautiful sets from Solvor, Bellman, Sjur and the Little Hands and Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson. A huge amount of fun.

There are some photos of the show up on our Facebook page here.

In the meantime thanks to the bootlegging skills of an as yet unnamed individual (please get in touch if you are reading this we'd love to see if you caught any thing else that night!) you can relive Youth Pictures set with this handy stream

A formal introduction to MONZANO

So then - we are super excited to announce that the next installment (number 8 no less) of the Full Stop To Bad Pop campaign will come from none other than the excellent MONZANO. The very band that spawned our dear friends The Little Hands of Asphalt, Monzano are a brilliant indie pop band from Norway and the band will release a 6 track free ep through the Full Stop campaign in mid September.

In a slight twist on the Full Stop theme two versions of the EP will be available - one for free featuring 6 tracks and the artwork and a "you name the price" download where even the tiniest donation will all see you taking home extra tracks, some exclusive video's and indeed some awesome PC Wallpaper to boot. Nice.

More details to follow shortly but for now heres the awesome new video for the track Yes We Cant.

Some radio news

So then a couple of sweet radio bits of news this week - first up Tom Robinson very kindly played out The Little Hands of Asphalt on Monday on his "fresh on the net" show. You can still hear it on the iplayer now by clicking right about here (our man Sjur appears at about ten minutes into the show)

And also our good friends Tash and Ali will be playing out I See Horses tonight on their BBC weekender show. If you live in Northamptonshire then you can check it out on 103.6 or 104.2 FM - anyone else can tune in via the world wide web by checking out the "listen now" button BBC Northamptonshire's website between 6pm and 7pm.

Oya Festival

So we're pretty gutted that we cant be at Oya Festival this week over in Oslo (we'll hopefully see you soon though Norway) but if you are luckier than we are then please do head on over and check out some of our acts / friends that are playing at and around this year. The Little Hands of Asphalt and My Little Pony are playing a very special collabarative set (which you can read about here) Whilst Little Hands and Cold Mailman both play shows as part of the main festival.

Also on the bill are our friends Team Me and Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson which you would be well advised to check out if your heading over to the festival.

Lots more to come this week - keep your eyes peeled here

Drowned in Lazy Acre

Imagine my delight this morning when upon checking by Drowned in Sound, I noticed a guide to some great Norwegian acts to check out at Oya next week (which Im so gutted I cant get to). Great I thought - nice to see some Nordic bands get a nice push.

Imagine how close I came to actually lifting off the floor with excitement then, to find not only our friends Team Me listed in the piece - but a number of journalists on there waxing lyrical about our good friends The Little Hands of Asphalt. It even went on to make a number of glowing references to another band that we are in the process of trying to sign at the minute so thats pretty damn exciting all round. We will tell you more about this though as it becomes fact and not excited daydream.

You can check it out here.

Also Uno Moller was Tuna The Day. Have you named the price and got your download of his album "Songs from my beautiful colourball" yet? Well go get it my little princesses

Heres a rather nice little video of Little Hands of Asphalt at last years Oya Festival

So a sneaky sneaky peek...

...at a new little hands of asphalt song... the sound quality isnt amazing on this but its nice all the same to see that we may not have to wait too long for a follow up to Leap Years

Good God Man

After hearing / seeing her name everywhere I look for the last few months Ive finally just listened to a track of Ellie Gouldings... and... I dont get it? what the fuck is a;; the fuss about?! seriously - this is the next in line into the pantheon of great british music?!

I dont know maybe its just me but I genuinely cant hear the difference between this and any of the other shit coming out od Radio 1...

Anyway thats my rant over.

In better news there was a lovely little feature about us over at The 405 today featuring My Little Pony and The Little Hands of Asphalt. Our thanks to Danny for this - much appreciated dude!

You can check it out here

Car Crash Inbox

In a concerted effort to get ahead of the game I spent a little time yesterday trawling the ByLarm directory to get in contact with a load of journalists and reviewers and other types to come down and see our humble heroes during the course of the week.

The upshot of this is that my inbox this morning currently resembles something of a horrible car crash... Where to start with it all?!

Still in better news the Balcony TV Session that Little Hands of Asphalt recorded just before christmas gets aired today. Head on over to www.balconytv.com to check out an excellently windswept version of Sex & Loneliness and a wee interview.

Treat.

Anyway - for now my pretties I hope you have an excellent afternoon. Its bloody cold here :(

A Postcard from London

Wow

Its strangely soothing to be back in the office this morning, my big chair is much more forgiving to my poor back than the London underground. That said its been a busy and productive few days

Monday night saw The Little Hands of Asphalt (aka Sjur Lyseid) play his first UK show at The Bedford. The show was a show of two halves (literally) but a lot of fun all the same. Thanks to everyone who came down. If you happened to miss it I believe you can still watch the show over at www.thebedford.com. If sjur looks a little tired its because hed spent over three hours on the underground trying to find his hotel

Were getting a recording of the set in the next few days so will keep u posted as we might be able to use them somewhere…

While we were there we filmed a little EPK – like an interview and some live tracks – that we will be putting up here soon – please feel free to seed it on your blogs, facebooks etc

Yesterday was a much too early start (especially after perhaps one red stripe too many on Monday night) but a productive morning of interviews and meetings with various people who are helping us to push Sjur over here in the UK.

In the afternoon yesterday we visited the wonderful folk of Pulse FM just off the strand. Had a great half an hour or so interview with them and played a few songs out. If you missed it you can listen in again over at www.pulse.dj (Sjur was with Rachel between three and half three – the show is called Pet Sounds I think)

Finally yesterday afternoon (after much hot sauce and yet more interviews) we recorded a session for www.balcony.tv up in Camden – recorded a windswept version of Sex & Loneliness before answering some very excitable questions, being told off for calling it the Subway and scampering off in the rain to the tube. TUBE.

Alas with the tube rolling into Euston it was farewell to Mr Lyseid who will hopefully be back in the UK in early 2010 – once hes finished the new Monzano record and got through some festival shows in Feb… we shall be sure to keep you posted of course.

In the meantime we send our eternal thanks to Rachel & Tudor @ Pulse, Layla and greg @ Balcony, all the interviewers that filled our spare hours, Tony & The Bedford team and Berkeley as ever for the hospitality

Ill add some photos to the facebook when I get chance in the week

See you soon

The LIttle Hands of Asphalt Hit The UK

Well it is now a mere matter of days before young Sjur arrives in the UK for what should be a nice productive few days...

phew

it shuold be very nice to be able to finally meet the great man that we have spent most of 2009 imploring you to listen to - having only ever corresponded over the mail it will be good to put a personal seal on the year with an excellently beery day or so

if your in london please drop by and say hello at the shows...

in the meantime ill keep u posted about air dates and the like for the sessions as and when they become crystal clear

for now heres a little video someone made for the awesome LHOA song - Looks Like Styrofoam
