And as my will be done - here it is!
Holla!! We are Synne Eileen & the Sunbeams – a happy gang of hardcore Vikings, currently located in Liverpool. We like to play songs that make people wrinkle their foreheads from the lyrics and smile from the melodies. Our songs are usually about weird animals with special skills or some sort of seasonal heartbreak. – Occasionally we also play a semi-ironic lovesong. And the melodies are usually like musical doodles, that you easily can hum along to.

When Benjamin from Lazy Acre Records first contacted us, we knew that when it came to band management we were as shambolic as a herd of sheep lead by a dog whisperer. However, as soon as the not-so-lazy-lazy-acre-people started collaborating with us, we have started seeing our name on places we didn’t put it. Which in this case is a good thing.

At the moment our biggest ambition is to have a thousand people whistling the melody of Yo Dove, You Filthy Bird at the synchronically.

Until then,
Stay cuckoo.

Love,
Just because. Rather awesomely she did - just because - and the results are below. Beautiful stuff.

In the early spring sunshine the folk of Lazy Acre are keeping super busy as ever: Sledding with Tigers are in a Californian studio finishing up a new three track single to be released on Dans birthday next week, Uno Moller is busy in Japan with Team Me, Making Marks are holed up in Six Feet Over studios in Oslo recording new songs and us? Well we're just desperately trying to keep up with it all in our inbox.
A quick few lines anyway about a couple of new releases:

Misha Non Penguin - new single out June 1st
Oslo's Misha Non Penguin release a new single DRIFTERS on June 1st. The single (dubbed as a mix of Frightened Rabbit and Animal Collective this week by Amazing Radio) is the first to be released from the bands recently completed debut album and will be available through all good digital platforms.

Two new Stylusboy releases currently available:
In case you hadn't noticed, our dear friend mr Stylusboy has in the last couple of weeks released not one but two new records. FOUR WALLS is an album of live recordings put together during the mans tour of the UK's houses, gardens and allotments last year while the second release is a collection of awesome remixes from last years Whole Picture mini album. Some of the tracks are utterly unrecognisable and you would be well advised to pick up both (for a price which I believe you can name) over at Stylusboy.bandcamp.com
Tracklisting below. In the meantime keep your eyes and ears peeled on Twitter / FB etc for more details over the coming days:

Tracklisting for Norwanglish:

Bellman – The Curse
Uno Moller – Silent Speakers
Synee Eileen & The Sunbeams – Cuckoo
Twin Pines Mall – Car Crash Hands
Mischa Non Penguin – Fear of Assault
Steffan Galler - Smile
Stylusboy – The Whole Picture
Sledding with Tigers – The Kids Will Be Alright, Eventually.
Sajama Cut – Paintings / Pantings
Sunturns – Season Cyclics

And finally our dear friend Mr Stylusboy releases a new remix mini album this weekend to coincide with Record Store Day. Rather than try and explain it all ourselves here is a statement from the band:

After five years of touring and making music, norwegian pop band mylittlepony reinvent themselves and name their new band after their previous album: Making Marks!

mylittlepony has played hundreds of shows throughout Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Portugal, USA and Canada, including SXSW 2011 and other prestigious events. Their debut album "Think Too Much" (2008) won the award for Best International Album at Spain's Premio Pop Eye in 2009, and was released worldwide. Last winter "Making Marks" was released to great critical acclaim, and the new band will continue to play songs from both these albums as well as new material.

All in a slightly new wrapping as Making Marks has four full time members, down one from the previous five that made up mylittlepony. This gives room for more vocal harmonies and more synthesizer fun. Making Marks first public apperances will be on a tour of Italy in April, followed by a one off in their native Oslo. See below for dates. As of now, Making Marks are focusing their attention on creating music live, but they do plan to make some recorded versions of this music in the near future.

Until further notice, the band's online "home" will be at http://www.facebook.com/makingmarks. Reach us by e-mail at makingmarks@mail.com

Tour dates:
18.04 - Black Market - Roma (IT)
19.04 - Spazzio Mavv - Vittorio Veneto (IT)
20.04 - Carmen Town - Brescia (it)
21.04 - La Mela di Newton - Padova (IT)
22.04 - odelay! - Bologna (IT)

TBA - Mono - Oslo (NO)
.http://www.blogger.com/profile/17824543946295452292noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8161513253113444491.post-64493615807492025102012-03-06T16:03:00.001+00:002012-03-06T16:05:14.149+00:00Stylusboy live mini album released this week!So our dear friend Stylusboy has just released a new live mini album 'FOUR WALLS" this week recorded during last years tour of house shows!

The album is available for a "you name the price" style download and you can get it by visiting the mans bandcamp page.

We had a little chat about it with Mr Steve himself:

Hey steve. Your still alive - the more i think about the more i think the idea of "house shows" would be perfect fodder for a low grade slasher movie. Noone tried to kill you on your travels did they?

No thankfully everyone has been amazingly friendly. Most of my house shows have come from my mailing list and Twitter, so I often know the hosts to a point.

Is it awkward ever turning up at peoples houses with your guitar? It could be a lucrative career - singer songwriteragram.

So far it has never been awkward at all. It has been lovely to meet the hosts as I have usually had a lot of contact with them over email before the show. I reckon turning up to a random person's house singing a song might work though you know, bit like a travelling sales man! haha

Come on look - spill the beans - you must have had something weird happen along the way?!!?!?!?

Actually it has been very boring in terms of strange stories. I guess when I played with my friend Wes Finch at his album launch house show I didn't know the hosts and got asked by Wes to play too. I turned up to the house to find it was this huge old house that had its own performance room! It was amazing. I have also been offered chocolate and beetroot cake at one show, which although it sounds horrible was delicious!

Whats the recipe for a perfect house show?

A good space although it doesnt have to be that big. People that want to listen and interact because of the fun of house shows for me is the way the audience is able to ask questions or make requests! The shows where people maybe make the extra little effort like little stage signs and things are also lovely!

Any advice for budding living room promoters - whats the essential snack list?

Crisps, beers, bottle of wine and other snack things! I have play a couple of house shows with amazing food, full on meals! It is brilliant!

If you could play a show at anyones house who would you go to?

Anyone who would want me to really! Maybe someone like Paul Macartney, just because his house would be stunning! I don't really know to be honest!

Do you think Hef would let us hold a house show at his house?

Hmmmm yeah probably!

Download the record right here now.

.http://www.blogger.com/profile/17824543946295452292noreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8161513253113444491.post-44386288783349559802012-03-03T15:01:00.003+00:002012-03-03T15:07:34.199+00:00RIOTS - Out MondayUno Mollers amazing new single RIOTS is released on Monday (March 5th). We will be putting out a cassette compilation of all the guys work to date in the first quarter of 2012 and here's the info (stream below)

"Sledding With Tigers started off as a dumb joke. Dan Faughnder (Guitar, Vocals) started writing stupid songs to make his friends laugh at parties. Soon after, he put out a terrible album of autotuned, acoustic songs, and threw it on the internet under the name “Sledding With Tigers”. After one more failed attempt at a comedy album, Dan decided it was time to actually try his hand at something with substance. The first “real” Sledding With Tigers EP was released in the summer of 2010, and people actually enjoyed it!

This made Dan really happy, and he started playing more shows, and recruited his buddy, Samantha Juneman to play violin for him. In December 2010, they put out another EP entitled “The Hill Sheep”, and even more people liked that one!

Now, international stars of film and screen, Dan and Sam set off to change the world with another EP of even sadder songs, and even did a California tour, resulting in two traffic tickets, and more friends!

The two then asked their buddy, Robert Martin (of Gross Negligence and Grim Luck fame), to play banjo with them! Robert has a really good beard. So, in the fall of 2011, they recorded a split EP with their good buddies, KIDS. It’s the loudest thing they’ve ever done, and they think its pretty rad, even if you don’t much care for it.
So that’s the story so far! They eagerly await to see what happens next!"

Tracklisting:

1. The 405 (Is For Lovers!?)
2. Not Trying To Be Awkward
3. In Response To All The Songs Erich Beckmann Writes
4. Smile! Why Not?!
5. Hey Vanessa!
6. Plans
7. The Continuing Adventures of Feeling Down and Out
8. 5432Fun!!!
9. You might have read our latest post regarding our records of the year, and though I do agree with it in part (Team Me! Einar Stray! The Antlers!), I thought I should point out that there are a couple of other releases that made my year.

(note: I know Ben will hate me for the very first one on the list, let's just ignore him, okay?)

Bon Iver: Bon Iver
That record was gorgeous and intense and sad. I spent the whole spring and summer with it; in a way, this and Burst Apart (The Antlers) ran parallel to each other, both way more bombastic than their contained, clean and clear predecessors.

M83: Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
the perfect soundtrack to snow falling; sadly, we haven't seen any of that yet. The extra little bonus that makes my heart flutter is the Intro with Zola Jesus' insanely beautiful vocals.

Death Is Not Glamorous: Spring Forward
the album that saved me. DING used to make dirty, raw music, energetic and short punk songs that progressively smothered themselves down to melodic hardcore, with choruses expanding and more intricate instrumentals, wonderful lyrics as always, clearly inspired by literature and seminal bands like One Last Wish. Worth buying alone for the closing track "Defeat Statistics", which is maybe one of the most beautiful songs to have come out this year.

Zola Jesus: Conatus
I saw Zola Jesus for the first time live this year, got wonderful pictures from the barricades, exhausted and sweaty, so this release could not not be on this list.

Patrick Wolf: Lupercalia
among all the deranged and melancholic music to have come out in 2011, this record stands out as a definite upper; it's an album about love, and love, and love, which is what I adore about it most. (also, don't tell anyone, but sometimes it makes me feel like the world is a musical and people will randomly start breaking into song.)

the honorable mentions

Gem Club: Breakers
There is something heartbreaking and at the same time soothing about Gem Club's music, sort of like a cancer cure that makes your heart stop beating for a second. Thumbs up for pianos.

Clara Luzia: Falling Into Place
one of the local releases that meant most to me this year; the perfect production takes nothing away from the "old" Clara Luzia, but rather adds layers to a simple but wonderful album.

I'm sure I've forgotten 90% of the good stuff, I apologize in advance for that.

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-21973509-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
