In addition to all the exciting releases we have lined up for you there is also loads of other stuff going on including;
- My latest column for the 405 which is themed around the importance of Record Stores to the young (and features a track from Sajama Cut who you will be seeing tomorrow!)
- My Favourite Records. A series of posts running on our Record Store Day minisite which are written by a selection of Lazy Acre artists telling us about their favourite records.
- We will also be holding competitions galore and special offers throughout the day through our webstore
Word from Spoon Train about new MyLittlePony material: "It is our pleasure to give you the second available track from mylittlepony’s upcoming album. The track is called “A Miracle” and features a beautiful live acoustic performance as well, caught on tape by Apparatet. Please download it and share it with your friends!
We will release a new song from the new mylittlepony album with a live acoustic video every week throughout january. Thanks for listening."
Heres the first video for the track "Miracle" which is a little belter of a pop song! Keep up to date by following the band on twitter over on @mylittleponyx
So its been a weird few days. Having purposely taken a few days away from my email and phone and just generally tried to take a few moments, getting back saw hundreds of emails, a stack of CDs on the doormat (Including yet more from Hurts – note to Hurts PR man – stop sending me their records – they make me want to hurt something!) but among the debris and stacks of exciting developments that I can’t yet tell you about (more of which to follow soon though) there were a number of nice things that I saw fit to bring to your attention.
First up: MY LITTLE PONY have a new single out. Its called HARD TO BE GOOD and is an immense indie disco floorfiller. Easily the happiest song we’ve heard for a while it raises expectations for the new album to fever pitch on the acre. Its available in iTunes etc but for now here’s the awesome video for the track.
Next up there were a few nice bits of press to report in on including nice mentions of the compilation over at Acuvi.org (with our thanks to Eira) and Slanted Mixtapes, a nice 7/10 review for the compilation from the kind folk at The 405, and we also found out that Monzano had been made video of the week over at Art Star.
Next up, we have now gotten most of the content together for the upcoming zine (the one that will be bundled in with the compilation that we told you about here) including a very cool piece from BBC Weekenders Natasha House and some awesome little illustrations from Alice Tragedy. She has done some cool bits around some of the songs on the compilation – here’s what she made of Solvor Vermeer and The Little Hands of Asphalt. Treat. Finally we also found out that whilst out and about in his little car Lazy Bens Dad passed the real life Lazy Acre and in an audacious piece of photographic inspiration pegged it up the side of the road to get a photo.
So we're pretty gutted that we cant be at Oya Festival this week over in Oslo (we'll hopefully see you soon though Norway) but if you are luckier than we are then please do head on over and check out some of our acts / friends that are playing at and around this year. The Little Hands of Asphalt and My Little Pony are playing a very special collabarative set (which you can read about here) Whilst Little Hands and Cold Mailman both play shows as part of the main festival.
Well… It has to be said I’ve been truly terrible at keeping this blog updated the last couple of weeks… things have been so busy I literally haven’t had the time. Oh don’t look like that at me Blogger. Come on that’s not fair…
Anyway behind the scenes things have been cracking on apace. Some kind words have been coming in on the Uno Moller album which we released a couple of weeks back. There are some here from Little lion girl (on twitter @littleliongirl) and some more here from Acuvi and some from Buried by the Buzz.
You can get the album in the form of a “you name the price” digital download now from Uno’s page on Bandcamp. Its genuinely one of our favourite records of this year – lovely folky goodness. We are currently in the process of sketching out a new split release for later in the year with Uno and another one of our favourite recent discoveries who we will tell you about soon.
We are at present desperately scrambling to rearrange dates for Solvor to come over to the UK for her first tour – as soon as we have news on this we will let you know.
We are also in the process right now of assembling our first bona fide compilation. we have looked at this in the past and never really been too excited by the idea but we’ve hit on a bit of blinder of a concept (we think anyway) and so are busy squirreling away bands and bumper value add content to create a bit of a treat for you guys… We really hope you dig it when its ready.
Shit did I really jusy say “dig it”? Jesus we’re back in 1993. I am the Fresh Prince of Lazy Acre.
What other news? Well My Little Pony are in the process of trying to salvage their second album from the depths of Sjur Lysieds hard drive which recently deceased (hvil I fred gamle venn) so we’re anxiously awaiting news… The demos of the two tracks we have heard from the new record are lovely. really folky and uber melodic. Is it any wonder that My Little Pony is far and away our most downloaded release in the full stop to bad pop series? By A clear 250 d/ls at last count.
Epic technology based fails going on here with one thing and another today but smiles all round upon finding a baffling and hilarious review of My Little Pony this morning over at Unpeeled.
You wont find many reviews that namecheck an early hitler.
anyways.
In other exciting news it is now like 10 days to By:Larm which is going to be an insane and brilliant week all told - if it turns out half as good as it promises then well be very sleepy and very pleased with things on the plane back.
Finally if your out and about in Northamptonshire this month and happen to see a copy of the new issue of Neon Magazine then lean over and pick it up (its free) as it features a rather lovely feature on us.
After hearing / seeing her name everywhere I look for the last few months Ive finally just listened to a track of Ellie Gouldings... and... I dont get it? what the fuck is a;; the fuss about?! seriously - this is the next in line into the pantheon of great british music?!
I dont know maybe its just me but I genuinely cant hear the difference between this and any of the other shit coming out od Radio 1...
Anyway thats my rant over.
In better news there was a lovely little feature about us over at The 405 today featuring My Little Pony and The Little Hands of Asphalt. Our thanks to Danny for this - much appreciated dude!
So… sorry I know its only been a matter of days since we last invaded your inbox but a couple of things have come up to draw your attention to…
1)Lazy Acre invades the BBC Weekender Show
Natasha and the gang over at The BBC Weekender have been unendingly generous in their support of Lazy Acre in the past and so we are very happy to be back as a guest on the show this Friday (January 15th) talking about out plans for the new year and indeed giving some sneak previews of some rather awesome new signings we happen to have made. Oh yes.
As those of you that check your facebook invites will already know, the new, free MY LITTLE PONY ep is out on Monday for free download from www.fullstoptobadpop.blogspot.com
Get hold of your copy as soon as you can and help melt the snow with all manner of warm cuddly pop goodness
That’s all for now everyone
Have a great week
Lots of Love
Team LA
PS - heres a little treat, little hands of asphalt play LOOKS LIKE STYROFOAM in an acousticy styley - backstage at the bedford in Balham. December 2009
ok so setting fire to an actual my little pony toy isnt the most rock n roll thing you can do but for these little indie pups its a demonic step in the right direction
Look out Kambodsja - my little pony are after you!!
So hooray for us - the end of 2009 gets even busier with the news that we have just signed another new act. Theyre called My Little Pony, they sound like a cross between The Shins and Belle & Sebastian (oh Belle & Sebastion how we love you so even after all these years)
Unsurprisingly (given our recent output) these guys are Scandinavian and indeed spent most of this summer on the road in Europe with Sjur from The Little Hands of Asphalt.
They will be providing part four of the full stop to bad pop campaign at the end of November so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime heres the video for their new single "The Capital of Norway"
In other news I am not ashamed to admit that I was 24 when I found out that a horse and a pony are not the same thing.
