So a few bits and pieces...

Greetings friends of Lazy Acre. there has been much going on over here of late... too much for me to ever cram into an email out / 140 character tweet so I thought Id just go crazy and put em all into one lengthy blog post instead.

First up I wrote an article for the last ever issue of Maps Magazine. (RIP My friends - roll on the Joyzine launch from the same gang in May) Its about how the BBC would make a great model for a record label... that said it was written before the recent cuts to 6music and the Asian Network so some of it is kind of redundant now but you can check it out here either way.

The same issue also features a lovely review of My Little Pony and another of Solvor Vermeers live show in London last week.

On the subject of Solvor Vermeer, the EP is starting to pick up some wicked attention right now. Just lately shes been in the National Newspaper in Dubai, had a lovely write up at Unpeeled who describe her as "Pixie like", Talked about her favourite records for the fine folk over at the 405 and had another lovely review from the Music News crew. who gave her 4/5.

On top of all that there are loads of great reviews and interviews running over the next few weeks (keep up to date by following her on twitter @solvorvermeer) on top of being part of the new MUSIC ALLIANCE PACT which sees her getting much blog love from 36 blogs in 36 countries including Eardrums and many more.

As if all of that excitement wasnt enough we also added a new Uno Moller track to the Myspace player (www.myspace.com/lazyacrerecords in case you havent been paying attention) which is rather excellent and also released the awesome PIEPTON EP by Shoes and Socks Off. You can get hold of this free EP (released kind of in conjunction with Big Scary Monsters) by heading over to The Full Stop To Bad Pop page now. Its an awesome covers EP including tracks by PJ Harvey, Pixies and The Eels.

Fucking brilliant.

I think thats abotu all for the time being but shitloads of good stuff coming up soon so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Much Love

Lazy Acre Latest News: 3 x New Releases = win

1) Solvor Vermeer EP Update

Our delightful Ms Vermeer is now a mere matter of weeks away from releasing her debut EP "The Beaming Light" as a joint release between Lazy Acre and her own Bloksberg label. To say that this is shaping up to be pretty immense is something of an understatement. Drowned in Sound labelled her "Delicately Charming" in their round up of By:Larm, while the likes of The405, Clash Magazine and Eardrums have also all been getting mighty excited. She will also be featured in the new issue of the Music Alliance Pact (a recurring feature between 36 music blogs in 36 countries) which is live now.
Google "THe Music Alliance Pact" to find it or head over to our friend Knuts Eardrums site

the EP will be appearing all over the place in the next few weeks with promises of support from literally all over the world (China, Mexico, Norway, Italy, Germany, Spain (thanks to Bob and the guys at Bay Radio), Australia, USA, Indonesia, Canada, France, Iran (super weirdly!) so keep your eyes and ears peeled wherever you might be.

In the meantime Solvor has just confirmed a London show for March 25th so if your at a loose end why not come see what your missing. the details are below

Solvor Vermeer @ The Grapevine Sessions

why not keep up to date by following her on twitter at www.twitter.com/solvorvermeer

2) New Release - Shoes and Socks Off

So then - about 6 years ago I ran a club night in Coventry which saw some incredible bands play to some soul crushingly empty rooms (ha). One of these bands was called Push to Fire and they were awesome. The singer Toby soon ran off and formed one of my favourite bands of recent years Meet Me In St Lois (one of the best rock bands ever to come from these shores. fact) and has since started his own solo project Shoes and Socks Off.

Imagine how excited we are then to be adding the new SHoes and Socks Off EP to our full stop to bad pop campaign in the coming days.

The EP will be released on March 22nd by our friends at Big Scary Monsters (who have kindly put the EP forward for the Full Stop To Bad Pop Campaign.) It contains six awesome bluesy folky covers of some of our favourite tracks. Look:

1. Lounge Act (Nirvana)
2. Not Ready Yet (Eels)
3. You Said Something (PJ Harvey)
4. Wolf At The Door (Radiohead)
5. Tame (Pixies)
6. To Forgive (Smashing Pumpkins)

Our friends Natasha and Ally at the BBC Weekender show previewed a track on Friday night - you can check it out on their podcast now just clickety click here

or to find out what this all might go down like you could check out Lounge Act here

3) Tessa Frith - Mindscapes, Out May 3rd

completing a triumverate (check me out at 8am on a sunday) of release related news we are pleased to announce the long awaited release of Tessa Friths debut album Mindscapes.

Weve been listening to this record for a while and cant wait to share it with you. The album - which is a spookily folky affair with lots of nice strings - is out May 3rd and will be preceded by a launch night happening May 1st at The Courtyard in Hereford.
