So we are very pleased to introduce you to a new act we are working with in the new year: Sledding with Tigers. We will be putting out a cassette compilation of all the guys work to date in the first quarter of 2012 and here's the info (stream below)

"Sledding With Tigers started off as a dumb joke. Dan Faughnder (Guitar, Vocals) started writing stupid songs to make his friends laugh at parties. Soon after, he put out a terrible album of autotuned, acoustic songs, and threw it on the internet under the name “Sledding With Tigers”. After one more failed attempt at a comedy album, Dan decided it was time to actually try his hand at something with substance. The first “real” Sledding With Tigers EP was released in the summer of 2010, and people actually enjoyed it!

This made Dan really happy, and he started playing more shows, and recruited his buddy, Samantha Juneman to play violin for him. In December 2010, they put out another EP entitled “The Hill Sheep”, and even more people liked that one!

Now, international stars of film and screen, Dan and Sam set off to change the world with another EP of even sadder songs, and even did a California tour, resulting in two traffic tickets, and more friends!

The two then asked their buddy, Robert Martin (of Gross Negligence and Grim Luck fame), to play banjo with them! Robert has a really good beard. So, in the fall of 2011, they recorded a split EP with their good buddies, KIDS. It’s the loudest thing they’ve ever done, and they think its pretty rad, even if you don’t much care for it.
So that’s the story so far! They eagerly await to see what happens next!"

2011: Laura's Records of the Year

Hello world, here's a little update from the pms-friendly part of the Lazy Acre team. You might have read our latest post regarding our records of the year, and though I do agree with it in part (Team Me! Einar Stray! The Antlers!), I thought I should point out that there are a couple of other releases that made my year.

(note: I know Ben will hate me for the very first one on the list, let's just ignore him, okay?)

Bon Iver: Bon Iver
That record was gorgeous and intense and sad. I spent the whole spring and summer with it; in a way, this and Burst Apart (The Antlers) ran parallel to each other, both way more bombastic than their contained, clean and clear predecessors.

M83: Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
the perfect soundtrack to snow falling; sadly, we haven't seen any of that yet. The extra little bonus that makes my heart flutter is the Intro with Zola Jesus' insanely beautiful vocals.

Death Is Not Glamorous: Spring Forward
the album that saved me. DING used to make dirty, raw music, energetic and short punk songs that progressively smothered themselves down to melodic hardcore, with choruses expanding and more intricate instrumentals, wonderful lyrics as always, clearly inspired by literature and seminal bands like One Last Wish. Worth buying alone for the closing track "Defeat Statistics", which is maybe one of the most beautiful songs to have come out this year.

Zola Jesus: Conatus
I saw Zola Jesus for the first time live this year, got wonderful pictures from the barricades, exhausted and sweaty, so this release could not not be on this list.

Patrick Wolf: Lupercalia
among all the deranged and melancholic music to have come out in 2011, this record stands out as a definite upper; it's an album about love, and love, and love, which is what I adore about it most. (also, don't tell anyone, but sometimes it makes me feel like the world is a musical and people will randomly start breaking into song.)

the honorable mentions

Gem Club: Breakers
There is something heartbreaking and at the same time soothing about Gem Club's music, sort of like a cancer cure that makes your heart stop beating for a second. Thumbs up for pianos.

Clara Luzia: Falling Into Place
one of the local releases that meant most to me this year; the perfect production takes nothing away from the "old" Clara Luzia, but rather adds layers to a simple but wonderful album.

I'm sure I've forgotten 90% of the good stuff, I apologize in advance for that.

So on the spur of the moment we decided that this week we would dedicate to one of our favourite people and a long time Lazy Acre co-conspirator Mr Uno Moller. Each day we are bringing you live sessions, free tracks to download and other bits and pieces along the way.

So we promised that we would be bringing you all manner of little treats this week to celebrate Uno Moller week and boy have we dug up a little treasure here.

You may or may not remember that when we released Uno's debut album "Songs from my beautiful colourball" we ran a treasure hunt that ran across ten different blogs in ten different countries on ten different days. It was awesome fun (and helped us to reach a lot of people" and the prize was an ep recorded especially by Uno for the winner.

Todays free exclusive download is a track from that ep that up until now has only ever been heard by us, Uno and the competition winner. Pretty cool huh?

Today we thought we would share with you this little video of Uno performing a live session for our Record Store Day celebrations this year. The clip features Marius from Team Me on the banjo and was recorded to celebrate the beautiful single that Uno released for Record Store Day RIOTS (featuring Lucy Swann)

The great thing about the Record Store Day single was that it was literally recorded, mixed and released in the space of about four hours, with Lucy Swann dropping over to record her vocals over breakfast. The track has become a firm favourite round Lazy Acre ever since and will feature on Unos new album to be released early January 2012.

Calling all Photographers!

Greetings, we write this note on account of requiring the creative wonders of a small but wonderful team of photographers. Im talking to you. Yes you with the polaroid / iphone with Instagram on it.

See we are currently curating a compilation to highlight all that has been great and indeed more than great in 2011 from Lazy Acre (indeed it should be available later in the year as a download / CD affair) and we are looking to commission a photograph for each of the tracks. Thats all the creative direction we are giving.

We would like to find a dozen or so photographers who would like to take part - the photo will become the artwork for that track and be featured in a large poster and CD booklet that will accompany the CD.

If you would like to be involved then please just email us on Lazyacrerecords@gmail.com and we can send you the track for inspiration.

So a few quick notes to catch you up on...

First up; our friends yoB take to the stage of the Good Ship this Sunday in aid of the Make a Wish foundation. The show is being organised by the lovely folks of Joyzine. The bill features the likes of Lupen Crook also and full details are available on Facebook.

Second up Stylusboy will be making a brief trip to Northampton next week (Fri Sep 2nd) to record some sessions and the like. The 'boy will be live on Inspiration FM at about 2.15 and then doing a quick chat and interview for the BBC Weekender which will be happening between 6 and 7pm the very same evening. Keep an eye on our twitter page for a reminder!

A note to Oslo

As I sit and write this note it has been nearly 72 hours since events began to unfold in our beloved Norway at the end of last week and even now it seems as unfathomable and unreal as it did when the first grainy shots of smoke floating across the skyline hit the news.

Sjur sings that Oslo is a small, small town (I know Solvor for one agrees with him) and with that in mind I cant begin to understand the fear and confusion and hurt the whole city must be feeling right now.

I don't want to sit here and speculate nor pontificate and try and involve myself in conversations on twitter that I dont have the knowledge nor experience nor empathy to try and understand, this is merely a note to let you know Oslo that we are thinking of you. Pretty much all of our acts and friends are thankfully accounted for (with a couple of exceptions - if you are reading this and haven't been in touch please let us know you are ok) but we know that there are many who cannot say they are as lucky - our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Anyone that knows Lazy Acre knows that Oslo and Norway have been beyond good to us. To a man supportive and friendly and kind and warm, Norway and its people have taken us into their lives and I fear we may never repay the debt of gratitude and kindness we have to so many people there. We know you're hurting guys, our thoughts are with you all and we can't wait to be back with you soon.

The guys have been on tour all week and have just added an extra date on Sunday 10th July at Bar Solo in Camden. You should go and see them. In other news Arne was interviewed on air for Inspiration FM and over here on The 405. Well worth a read. Look out for an interview on BBC Introducing in Northamptonshire next Friday as well. Lazy Acre Records celebrates Record Store Day

Ever a fan of jumping on the nearest bandwagon Lazy Acre Records will celebrate this weekends Record Store Day by not stepping foot out of its front door. See as a label that doesn't produce vinyl and has no artists within 500 miles of our nearest record store it made arranging some kind of happening rather difficult.

Instead Lazy Acre will celebrate by running a series of events and sessions in its own webstore throughout the day. Beginning at Midday on Saturday, Lazy Acre artists will be broadcasting live sessions and shows from across the globe. Kicking off with new signing Stylusboy (who will be broadcasting from the UK), the day will also take in acoustic sets from Uno Moller (live from Oslo) and Sajama Cut (live from Jakarta) before finishing off with a headline set from MyLittlePony who will be broadcasting from Vienna.

Its a truly international happening and one that will be accompanied by a series of limited time releases (including a new MyLittlePony single, a special edition Stylusboy single with "When I Argue I See Shapes" on the B-side, a UK release for "Paintings / Pantings" from Sajama Cut and a new Uno Moller release that is so secret we won't be announcing details until the day.)

These download singles will all be priced at £2 each (or £6 for them all) and will include videos, a copy of the latest Lazy Acre fanzine and some PC wallpaper. They will be available for 2 weeks from the day of release.

Throughout the course of the day there will also be competitions, video premier's, exclusive interviews and content and 25% off everything in the webstore.

Bellman - The Curse

So there will be more details on this release to follow but we wanted to let you know that we will be releasing the new album from BELLMAN shortly here in the UK.

We first saw Bellman live a few years back and were over the moon when they asked us if we would like to work with them to release their new album here in the UK.

There are loads more details to share with you (including some debut UK shows in the next couple of days as well) but for now we really wanted to share a track with you and so this is the lead track (and indeed title track) from the album for you to wrap your ears around.

So then over the next couple of days we are going to be announcing a whole heap of new releases. The first of these is the next band into the Full Stop to Bad Pop campaign - PARTS.

PARTS are an awesomely noisy two piece currently residing in Barcelona. They were so loud they got arrested at their firt ever gig and they sound like a super thrashy Nirvana covering Death From Above whilst driving a truck through a window. How fans of Solvor Vermeer will take to it Im not sure but we love it.

So our new friends Jones Street Station (who we are seriously excited about working with right now) play four shows at SXSW next week. If you are lucky enough to be going (I only seem to get to festivals in the snow lately!) then I implore you to check the guys out.

The band remind me of an amazing blend of Fleet Foxes, Ryan Adams, The Band, Wilco, Neutral Milk Hotel, Uncle Tupelo, Richmond Fontaine... I could go on and on... Ive dreamt of signing a band like this for a long time.

And I genuinely cant think of a better way to see them than in the sun with a beer in one hand and bbq food in the other. Amazing.

So we are doing a few cool little projects with The 405 guys at the moment (Our takeover last week for one!) and another is their joining the Lazy Acre Records club as a media partner.

How this will work is through the coming year I will be keeping a weekly column over on the site and bringing you a weekly track for free download. Simple. Free music plus rambling column = weekly win. We have some awesome bands lined up (as well as hopefully some interesting columns) and all you need to do to get your hands on the free tracks each week is post a message about them on your facebook or twitter page. Radio show, new releases, end of year stuff

So then; its been a strange and busy few weeks all told over here. There is much to get through so in nothing like chronological order here goes:

The Lazy Acre Takeover of BBC Introducing went out on friday night in Northamptonshire. We owe massive love to Tash and Ally for this and we had a lot of fun doing it. If you missed it you can still hear it on the iplayer by clicking here.

Next up what with it being the end of the year (/decade) there are the obligatory end of year lists going around. We were super pleased then to discover that Uno Moller made Birds Sometimes Dance's end of year best of list for his album "Songs from my beautiful colourball". Indeed he also made Art Stars best of 2010 list (along with Solvor Vermeer whos ep The Beaming Light made the list). Finally Monzano also made the list of The 405's favourite eps of the year list as well.

Oh and Uno Moller was also Norways representative in this months Music Alliance Pact which you can find on 30 odd blogs by googling Music Alliance Pact.

What could be better than one of our favourite acts playing a show in Oslo next week? Well how about two of them? Together. In one place.

Thats right - Solvor Vermeer and Bellman team up to play a show at Mono Wed December 15th kicking off at 8:00pm.

So the reason then that we were in Oslo

So as you will have noticed (especially if you follow us on twitter) we spent the weekend in a very cold Oslo. And we had a blast - in the company of Oli from the 405. Although it should be stressed we were indeed working.

At what you ask? Well heres the awesome news. First up we took the 405 as in a couple of weeks we will be running a Lazy Acre Takeover on the site and jam filling it with all kinds of Lazy Acre goodness including interviews with Monzano and Bellman, a special edition of the My Favourite Records series, live acoustic sessions from Uno, Bellman and I See Horses and a whole load more.

We were also recording some content for a special show we are doing for BBC Radio Northamptonshire and 6music. The show on Northamptonshire will be a one hour lazy acre special with interviews, live tracks, more lazy tuneage than you know what to do with and plenty of waffling from yours truly. That will go out December 17th.

Oh and we also did some stuff for an oslo-centric insert for Tom Robinsons show featuring Team Me, Einar Stray and Sareena Maneesh.

Phew.

So things we learnt this week: How Monzano would survive a zombie apocolypse, How the norwegians are employing fembot style sirens to recruit new citizens, that solvor vermeer is a bad influence ("just one drink" to 630am bedtimes), that My Little Pony have literally JUST finished a new album, that Einar Stray is astounding live and that it is indeed possible to modestly wax £100 in 26 hours (8 of which you were asleep for!)

Also we learnt this morning that the kind folk of The 405 have gone and named Monzano in their eps of the year list. Alongside Sufjan Stevens and Dad Rocks! for two. Nice company I'm sure you will agree. You can check it out here anyway and for the hell of it why not check out All Scandinavians take on the Ep as well.

First up I SEE HORSES were recently filmed in session (at Arvinds flat) for the Involve Yourself Campaigns youtube festival. There are loads of great acts involved (including Ingrid Olava, Honeytraps, Cold Mailman and more). Anyway the live track the band performed (Drop Out) is below:

Catch Up

Apologies for the lack of updates this last week or so - things have been ever so slightly insane on the acre of late. The new Monzano EP is still continuing to gather some lovely reviews - indeed this last week or so has seen very kind words from the folks of the 405, eardrums, indie today and acuvi.

Also we are super excited to announce that the next installment of the Full Stop To Bad Pop campaign will be provided by acoustic led nord's BELLMAN who will release the "Spaceship! Move Slow" EP in early december on Lazy Acre. There are some beautiful moments on the record and even more on the bands new full length album THE CURSE which will be released on Lazy Acre around the time of By:Larm next year.

And finally the Acre was a place of unabashed excitement this week with the news that we are off to Oslo next weekend in the company of the fine folk of the 405. We are headnig over to record a load of interviews, sessions etc etc for some very special birthday takeovers that are happening with the405, BBC Northamptonshire and 6Music to celebrate turning a whole three years old shortly.

Its going to be immense and crazy busy but there will be lots of awesome stuff to fill you in on in the coming days.

So then, I've been promising some news for a little while now about the expansion of the Full Stop to Bad Pop campaign and here it is. We are linking up with the awesome guys at The National Student who will be joining the campaign as a media partner.

The full details are below but the pertinent news is that we will be able to count on the support of the NS guys to help get the releases that feature in the Full Stop campaign to a eyewatering number of people. The National Student guys are a great bunch who have been super supportive of our little adventures for a long time now so we're really happy to be working with them on this. The consequences of this announcement will become clear in the coming days (there are further excellent surprises afoot) but for now here the full press release:

So its been a weird few days. Having purposely taken a few days away from my email and phone and just generally tried to take a few moments, getting back saw hundreds of emails, a stack of CDs on the doormat (Including yet more from Hurts – note to Hurts PR man – stop sending me their records – they make me want to hurt something!) but among the debris and stacks of exciting developments that I can’t yet tell you about (more of which to follow soon though) there were a number of nice things that I saw fit to bring to your attention.

First up: MY LITTLE PONY have a new single out. Its called HARD TO BE GOOD and is an immense indie disco floorfiller. Easily the happiest song we’ve heard for a while it raises expectations for the new album to fever pitch on the acre. Its available in iTunes etc but for now here’s the awesome video for the track.

Next up there were a few nice bits of press to report in on including nice mentions of the compilation over at Acuvi.org (with our thanks to Eira) and Slanted Mixtapes, a nice 7/10 review for the compilation from the kind folk at The 405, and we also found out that Monzano had been made video of the week over at Art Star.

Next up, we have now gotten most of the content together for the upcoming zine (the one that will be bundled in with the compilation that we told you about here) including a very cool piece from BBC Weekenders Natasha House and some awesome little illustrations from Alice Tragedy. She has done some cool bits around some of the songs on the compilation – here’s what she made of Solvor Vermeer and The Little Hands of Asphalt. Treat.

Finally we also found out that whilst out and about in his little car Lazy Bens Dad passed the real life Lazy Acre and in an audacious piece of photographic inspiration pegged it up the side of the road to get a photo.

So one of the nice things about the Lazy Acre Records club we have been running is that it has given a few of the bands a new audience to check the bands out and there have been a few nice mentions of the bands in various places.

First up The Heads Up Blog featured both this weeks band FILM, recent participants - and former Grapevine Sessions headliners - ESCAPISTS and Sajama Cut while the Indonesian indie poppers also rippled the blogosphere over at the Old Age Hipster and 2turntablesandamicrophone.

Despite my occasional ambivilance towards some ofthe bands plastered across it it is still none the less a bit of a thrill to finally get the NMEs approval for one of our acts. With great delight then I can report that Solvor Vermeer is featured in todays NME Daily Download column.

So then, the latest installment of our free weekly singles club comes from Greek band FILM whos dark and moody take on film noir-esque indie clatters in with some sparse and spooky guitars riding across the drums from Wipeout. Theres something kinda creepy and foreboding about this weeks track "Berlin" - sexy and slinky but ready to take your arm off at any minute.

Monzano: EP Tracklisting Announced

So then; as promised here are the confirmed details for the new EP we are releasing with the lovely guys of Monzano. The EP will be entitled the "APPLE HANDSOME EP" and will be released as a free download on the full stop to bad pop campaign on October 18th.

In a new twist on the Full Stop Theme two versions of the ep will be available; one a completely free no strings attached download featuring six tracks and a printable cover, and one a pay what you like download over at bandcamp for which even the tiniest of donations will unlock two extra tracks, videos, deluxe printable artwork with a choice of covers and some really cool PC wallpaper.

New compilation - tracklisting announced

So then, I've been talking about this new compilation for a while now and we are very excited to be able to finally tell you about it... "Three doors down doing the Charlestone" is a new 12 track compilation that features not only some of the current crop of Lazy Acre artists but a whole truckload of our favourite bands. The twist is that it will come along with a one off fanzine affair featuring exclusive features and articles from some of our favourite bloggers, djs and label folk.

The whole caboodle will either be available as a printed zine and CD / badge combo or are a "you name the price" mp3 download with the zone bundled as a pdf.

All told we're super excited about it. We'll let you know how you can order the compilation etc nearer the time but for now here's a sneaky peek at the artwork and the confirmed details on the tracklisting.

A formal introduction to MONZANO

So then - we are super excited to announce that the next installment (number 8 no less) of the Full Stop To Bad Pop campaign will come from none other than the excellent MONZANO. The very band that spawned our dear friends The Little Hands of Asphalt, Monzano are a brilliant indie pop band from Norway and the band will release a 6 track free ep through the Full Stop campaign in mid September.

In a slight twist on the Full Stop theme two versions of the EP will be available - one for free featuring 6 tracks and the artwork and a "you name the price" download where even the tiniest donation will all see you taking home extra tracks, some exclusive video's and indeed some awesome PC Wallpaper to boot. Nice.

I SEE HORSES P3 Session and more...

A quick note to remind you that our beloved equine-popsters I SEE HORSES play live on NRK’s P3 sessions tomorrow with none other than BAND OF F**KING HORSES!!! This is genuinely awesome news. There are some details on the session over here and you can hear the session by listening in over at NRK’s website.

In the meantime the little scamps have still been receiving plenty of lovely mentions all over the place including these kind words from the 2turntablesandamicrophone blog, these courtesy of Pop Goes The Weevil and indeed these glowing words from our friend Eira over at Acuvi. Don’t forget the bands new EP Has My Stealth Been In Vain is available to download right about here for FREE.

In other news I must let you know that the awesome YOUTH PICTURES OF FLORENCE HENDERSON (who feature on our new compilation of course) are coming to the UK to play a one off show as part of their European tour. The band are playing the Fighting Cocks in Kingston September 11th. I urge you to go and see them. Urge. Urge. Urge.

Lazy Acre Records meets: All Scandinavian

We've mentioned a few times on here in recent months just how important blogs and independent music sites are too a little label like ours so we really wanted to try and repay some of the love they've shown us in the last few months by doing a few interviews with them over here on the blog. In this - the first installment, we have a chat with the lovely Peter, who runs the awesome All Scandinavian blog. Id definitely suggest you check out his site asap!

Hello Peter how are you?
Not too bad, thanks for asking.

Your website is called All Scandinavian - which of these lovely scandinavian countries do you call home?Denmark. That’s the twig and berries right above Germany for any geographically challenged readers.

How did you fall into blogging in the first place? Were you writing elsewhere already or was it more a case of just being compelled to write about some brilliant music?I’m a journalist and have been writing about music for six years, freelance and back in the days as editor at a Danish music website for a couple of years. The whole blogging thing came out of me writing about music, a desire to build my own corner of the www, and finally wanting to make people aware of some of the amazing music being made in the Scandinavian countries. When I got the idea for the blog it struck me that the major blogs in English about Scandi music I was of aware of were all written by outsiders, e.g. It’s A Trap, I Love Icelandic Music and Swedesplease. It seemed appropriate with a Scandinavian based supplement to these great sites.

What is about Sweden that creates such effortlessly wonderful pop music?
In my opinion a major part of it is because Swedish bands have never been afraid to be pop, very much thanks to the success of ABBA. Speaking from a Danish point of view, pop has always been frowned upon by musicians and tastemakers. Really the worst thing you could be labeled as a band was mainstream pop. It has changed the past years with more bands admitting to like it and be it, but I would say it’s still not comme il faut in certain circles, and even though Aqua is the biggest selling Danish band ever, it’s not something we generally take pride in. Actually, we kinda feel a need to apologize to the world.

How important is that heritage to young up and coming bands do you think? Are bands keen to take their place in line with these amazing acts or are they more interested do you think in forging their own way?I think ABBA have played a pivotal role in Swedish music. Apart from selling an awesome number of records, they have been part in installing a great confidence in own abilities in the Swedish music industry as a whole, bands included, and made it natural for Swedish bands to aim internationally from the get-go. That said, I think all bands are and should be more interested in forging their own way - while of course aiming for glory.

There seems to be a much lower regard (speaking from an outsiders point of view) for British and American cultures with young scandinavian bands - as if they’re more comfortable being "themselves" than emulating the yanks... Would you agree with that or am I being blinkered?I’m too polite to call you blinkered, but I think it is a fairly new development. Traditionally the Scandinavian countries, not least Denmark, have always needed bigger and stronger allies like the UK and US, which means we’ve always been looking out and been willing to incorporate elements of other cultures in our own. British and American pop culture has been and still is a major influence, but for instance in Denmark these years there definitely seems to be a newfound confidence to “be yourself”, something I think a band like Efterklang has played a part in developing.

Give us your opinions on a couple of Scandinavian music cliches - are these occasionally appropriate or hugely misguided:
Sweden = pop genius
Very appropriate.

Norway = heavy metal
To some extend misguided. Norway is definitely a rock nation and they do like their black metal, but there’s also a very vibrant electronica scene and everything in between. And then there’s A-Ha of course. The heavy metal cliché is traditionally more appropriate on Finland, but as with any other country in the region so much more is going on.

Iceland = floaty ethereal whale music
A lot of that going around, definitely, but again: There’s more to it than meets the cliché.

Who are your favourite scando acts at the moment - who have you been really enjoying (aside from the wonderful norwegian bands of Lazy Acre obviously :) !!!)Well, apart from those obvious ones... There are so many, but off the top of my head I will have to mention Kellermensch, Delay Trees, This Is Head, Jonathan Johansson, Kråkesølv and Hjaltalín. All acts I’ve come to know through my work with All Scandinavian. Finally I must add Faroese rock outfit Gestir to the list, who has been a favorite since the very first spin of their 2006 debut ‘Burtur Frá Toftunum’. I’ve been waiting impatiently for more from them ever since.

How important do you think bloggers are to these young up and coming acts that might not necessarily fit straight into BBC radio or NRK? Do you feel like you do make a difference? Or is that not really your intention are you more interested in just giving a bit of a spotlight to music you love?Starting with the last bit, I would say it’s a combination of the two. I think it’s every blogger’s dream to be able to make a difference in terms of breaking a band etc., but we all start with a desire to spotlight music we love and think everybody else should love. And taking it down a notch we do make a difference for the bands and artists simply by writing about them and presenting their music to our readers. Also, blogs cover a much broader spectra of music as we’re not governed by rigid and unambitious concepts like fixed playlists. So I think bloggers are important, especially to up and coming acts.

What’s the best demo track you’ve ever been sent by a completely unknown band? Did they go onto bigger and better things?
One that really hit me in that very special, “instant connection” type way was a track I received last year by Finnish indiepop quartet Delay Trees titled ‘Tarantula/Holding On’ from their self-released ‘Soft Construction EP’. I won’t claim to be responsible, but this year they signed a record deal and come September 29 they release their debut album. I’ve had a chance to hear it and it’s great.

And could you pick a worst?Since I’m raised to be a nice guy I won’t name any by name, but I will say this: A little self critique never hurt anyone. On the contrary.

And finally if you could sum up scandinavian music in 5 words / cliches what would they be?!Melancholy. Curiosity. Inventiveness. Great. Music.

This weeks installment of the Lazy Acre Records club will be going out to subscribers shortly - to get it - go and "like" our facebook page to become a fan - This weeks track is from a band called Sajama Cut who hail from Indonesia, feature a panda in their videos and create epically wonderful pop music.

This weeks track - Paintings/Pantings - is a joyously happy song and its absolutely perfect for a sunny morning like today. As I enjoy it looking out at a very sunny Northampton I was compelled to share it with you all. Enjoy this later on subscribers!

A breathless catch up: I See Horses, Mixtapes and more

Well, my twitter and facebook feeds have gone bonkers the last few days with people getting in touch about the Great Big Uno Moller Uno Treasure hunt. We are now three clues down (you can pick up the trail and get involved by clicking here) and today sees Uno visiting one of my absolute favourite music sites the 405.

In other exciting news I See Horses have been booked to play a live session next week on NRK’s P3 sessions in Norway with none other than Band of Horses - which is *beyond* immense. In the meantime SugarPopSugarPop also made a nice mention of them, while The National Student featured their video as a video of the day. Dont forget you can download their EP for free here

As if all of that wasn’t quite enough - the SugarPopSugarPop guys also featured our dear friend Mr Moller as part of their most recent mixtape alongside some other little bands like Pete Yorn and Arcade Fire. oh and The National which Laura G is excited about. I just don’t get it with them.

The great big “Uno Moller online treasure hunt”

To mark the release of Uno Mollers new album “songs from my beautiful colourball” we put together a little online treasure hunt for you with a pretty awesome prize.

All you need to do is – starting today, collect the keywords by following the links from blog to blog each day (which will be conveniently showcasing a track a day!) and at the end if you have collected all of the keywords you simply email us the sentence they spell out and you will be entered into the draw for the one of a kind prize. Simples.

Following on from them hitting the airwaves of Northamptonshire on Friday night, I thought Id round up a couple of other I See Horses reviews which have arrived recently including these nice words from Doug @ Indie Today and another nice mention here from Eddie over at Pop Goes The Weevil.

The guys over at Thats Punk also got themselves very excited about it, which is also a bit of a treat.

So then a couple of sweet radio bits of news this week - first up Tom Robinson very kindly played out The Little Hands of Asphalt on Monday on his "fresh on the net" show. You can still hear it on the iplayer now by clicking right about here (our man Sjur appears at about ten minutes into the show)

And also our good friends Tash and Ali will be playing out I See Horses tonight on their BBC weekender show. If you live in Northamptonshire then you can check it out on 103.6 or 104.2 FM - anyone else can tune in via the world wide web by checking out the "listen now" button BBC Northamptonshire's website between 6pm and 7pm.

So then - all manner of good stuff going on over here at the moment including the final preparations for our excellent new compilation "Three hands down and doing the Charlestone" which we'll be filling you in on in the coming days...

My Little Pony and Little Hands of Asphalt joint show last week at Oya has been gathering rave reviews (including this wee note here which reports that a good half hour before the show had started the bathroom sinks were full of vomit. which is lovely) while I See Horses set was equally well recieved... You can check out some photos from ISH' set over here on Facebook .

In the meantime we have had a few more nice words in on some of intrepid heroes including The Heads Up blog waxing lyrical about I SEE HORSES , Aark Mag in Glasgow getting similarly effusive about the very same equine band and The Maroon Cafe throwing their support behind Mr Uno Moller as well.

Greetings!

So then – things have been insane of late over here so for those of you that might have missed out heres a quick round up of everything that has been happening of later over here.

First up Uno Mollers new album and EP (“Songs from my beautiful colourball” and “how to lead you home ep” respectively) have been out for a few weeks now and we’ve been enjoying your feedback to them both. Kind words have been coming in from the likes of Punktastic, Buried by the buzz, Acuvi and All Scandinavian and more have been promised in the coming weeks. You can name your price and download the album right about now over at Bandcamp.

Next up we are just finishing off the final details on a new compilation we are releasing this autumn. This isn’t something we’ve done before but we’re super excited about this little project and the tracklisting contains gems including: Solvor Vermeer, The Little Hands of Asphalt, Cold Mailman, Waking Life, Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson, Uno Moller, I See Horses, Escapists, My First Tooth, Stylus Boy, Tiny Cinema and The Son(s). Keep your eyes peeled for more on this very soon.

We also went and started a new weekly records club by way of our facebook page. How this works is if you “like” our page (facebook.com/lazyacrerecords) we will send out a free track to you once a week. We’ve already had three blinders from Team Me, Sweet Sweet Moon and Jenny & Tyler so come get involved and get your mitts on all this free tuneage.

On a random sidenote Beccy from Sharks Took The Rest is currently undertaking a songwriting challenge to write a new song every day. Head on over to her blog to see how she is getting on (there are some lovely moments in there already).

The awesome Oya festival takes place this week over in Oslo and a bunch of our acts and friends are playing shows at or around the festival. The best way of keeping up to date is to check out this rather useful post courtesy of Endre @ Spoon Train which collates most of the pertinent info.

And finally to let you in on a little secret – the next installment of our Full Stop To Bad Pop campaign will be MONZANO – the very band that spawned The Little Hands of Asphalt and one of the finest indie pop bands out of Scandinavia. We’re super excited to be putting this ep out over here in the UK so we hope you like it too.
